David and Loraine Outridge first visited Lake Kutubu in 2007, and have made regular visits (excluding during COVID) each year since the initial request for assistance from the locals in relation to environmental and health concerns.
David Outridge
David was a GP in the Hunter Region, NSW, Australia; he worked in a semi-rural setting for 16 years, and then went on to work exclusively in Drug and Alcohol; he has a strong interest in community based rehabilitation. His private interests include renewable energy technology, community development in lower middle-income countries, and seeing the Christian message become disentangled from church culture.
loraine oUTRIDGE
Loraine is a Registered Nurse, Midwife, Mental Health Nurse and Practice Manager. She holds a Welfare Diploma and managed a youth refuge for 5 years. She worked closely with David in his practice, and has been heavily involved in caring for people with deep seated emotional issues through Church circles. She has a passion for seeing people recover from past trauma, and enhancing the prospects for children through education and knowing the love of God. Loraine currently manages Kwila Community Based Rehab in Newcastle.
